SMART

This programme fits with BSK CIC’s New Skills for a Low Carbon future and Innovation for a Low Carbon Future

What is SMART?

In a practical, hands on, seeing-is-believing way; SMART aims to make sure that companies in the South East involved in building design, construction or retrofit have the chance to find out for themselves about sustainable build.

What can SMART offer companies?

1. Seeing is believing: Free site visits to demonstration buildings. Look at the materials, the construction and find out how it works.

2. Tried and tested: Short, practical, no nonsense sessions on retrofitting, sustainable materials, low carbon build and renewable energy technologies from companies that have tried it out. What works, what doesn’t and problems to be solved.

SMART is a founding member of the South East Sustainable Construction Operations Group which is composed of publicly funded bodies working in sustainable construction across the South East of England.  Members are working together to raise the profile of sustainable construction and to support the construction industry in a move toward a more environmentally aware way of building.

Why is understanding Sustainable Construction important for businesses?

  • Seven million houses are being retrofitted.
  • The code for sustainable homes is being implemented.
  • Zero carbon buildings are the future.
